What to Expect on my First Class?
If you have never been to Pilates class before, it may be a bit intimidating to see all the equipment. But it is as easy as learning how to use weights at the gym. You can perform a vast range of exercises and Pilates moves on the Reformers and Towers, using the springs to provide guidance and resistance throughout your workout. Our group classes tend to be a bit more of a work out while using the classic Pilates principals. The classes tone and firm up the entire body, with special emphasis on the core. The springs can be adjusted to different resistance levels to whatever is right for you. We want you to walk away with an energized wow feeling.
Pilates doesn’t stress your body in the ways that lifting weights or other workout methods may, this is why everyone can do it. Your bones will strengthen, muscles will tone and firm, and you will look fit. But, most

What to Wear?
Wear comfortable workout clothes that you feel ok sweating in. You’ll be laying down some of the time (yes, laying down and working out!) with your hands or legs in the air so make sure your clothes move with you. You don’t have to wear shoes or socks – though you can wear TOESOCKS which give you better grip for some of the exercises.
It is always a good idea to keep jewelry to a minimum when you workout. Bracelets, long necklaces, and even dangling earrings can be distracting or, worse, get caught in the equipment.
Many people enjoy “dressing” for workouts. If you like fashion, there is no lack of fun to be had in the realm of workout wear. Clothing for Pilates and yoga is essentially the same, and the explosion of popularity of both disciplines has brought about a revolution in stylish exercise clothing. It is much easier than it used to be to find not only interesting clothes, but options that are designed for a variety of body types and needs. You can even find workout clothing made of antibacterial fabric or natural fibers, such as organic cotton and soy.

Brand New With Pilates Machines?
If you are brand new to using Pilates machines, a Private session is the best avenue before jumping in to other classes. This helps you get a hang of our style and familiarize yourself with our equipment. We think a combination of a few Private sessions and a couple of Beginner classes are ideal and your practice will benefit in the long run.
How Does Pilates Help With Posture?
Excellent posture is something we all desire, everyone’s mother chided them about it, and it seems illusive in modern office culture. But, there is hope. Pilates is designed to strengthen, stretch and align. First you will strengthen the abdominals and muscles around the spine, giving your spine the support it has been craving. Then you will stretch the shoulders, chest and upper back, opening the shoulders that so often roll forward, finding space through the chest, and mobilizing the often frozen thoracic spine. Last, teaching your body to stand in a healthy alignment using your new mobility and strength to feel supported in great posture.
What is the Policy for Class Cancellation?
Classes require a 24-hour cancellation notice and Privates and Semi-Privates require a 12-hour cancellation notice. If you do not cancel in advance you will be automatically charged for the class or session. There is a $10 charge for the Two-week Unlimited special. All other classes are charged the full class price. If you late cancel and someone from the wait-list gets your spot, you are still charged for the late cancel. To cancel a class you may cancel online, phone the studio or send an email to info@pilatesofweston.com. Sorry no exceptions.
How the Wait-list Works?
There are 2 spots on the wait-list. Adding your name to the wait-list provides you a great opportunity to get into class! We will contact you via email or phone if a spot opens up and you can decide if you want to join the class. We send out automated emails notifying you if you get into class, so to make sure our notes don’t get filtered by spam folders (after you get your first email from us – select it as Safe Sender). Call us to confirm (or we’ll call you) or we will offer it to the next person on the list. If you want to stop by to see if there is a no show, please do so.
